The Norbertine Spirituality Center at Santa María de la Vid Abbey extends hospitality to those desiring a peaceful retreat environment in the beautiful high desert of New Mexico. Our comfortable overnight and meeting spaces are available for individuals and groups to be on retreat at the abbey.
We invite you to enjoy our walking paths, desert chapel, Norbertine Library, and participate in Morning, Noon, and Evening Prayer, and daily Eucharist with the Norbertine Community.
Our 70-acre property, at 5300 feet elevation on Albuquerque’s southwest mesa is long considered holy ground with wonderful views of the Rio Grande Valley and Sandia Mountain. The abbey is a place where people of diverse faith traditions have come for decades to pray and experience the pristine beauty and solitude of the southwestern desert.
Groups are invited to hold their retreats in our quiet, peaceful environment.

“I’ve been coming to the community for many years, and I started bringing my granddaughter Stella since she was 4.
We rest, we laugh, we pray and walk the trails, watch the birds and in the evening the clear skies refreshes our souls”
